Aim High with the JROTC Air Rifle Safety Challenge 2026 – Ready, Set, Safe!

The correct sequence of actions to fire an air rifle is to load, aim, breathe, and then squeeze the trigger.

This method is important because each step builds on the previous one to ensure maximum accuracy and safety. First, loading the rifle ensures that it is prepared to shoot. After loading, aiming at the target is crucial, as it establishes where you intend for the projectile to go.

Before squeezing the trigger, it’s vital to take a breath and then exhale gently. This helps to stabilize your body and reduce any physical movement that could alter your aim. Finally, squeezing the trigger should be done smoothly and steadily, allowing for a clean shot without jerking the rifle, which could cause a miss.

Following this sequence allows for a disciplined approach to shooting, which is essential for both accuracy and safety in air rifle practice.
